The developers of the Care Home application they want built on the Old Smithfield car park have submitted plans for a 92 foot net – or in new money 28 metres – to prevent cricket balls landing in the care home and hitting some infirm and vulnerable person sitting outside.
Of course on Cricket days the old folk might be kept indoors with closed doors so they won’t be injured Just what is needed on a fine summers day……
I believe this is a health and safety issue -requested by the cricket authorities but it does illustrate another reason why this care home should not be built. A 92 foot net!!!!! There does not seem to be details of the net on the application form. But its really high and with climate change / possible high winds/inclement weather etc is this really viable
