Saturday Market back to normal

Since April 17th the Saturday High Street market has returned to normal We welcome the traders who have weathered the pandemic storm and especially those traders who have been supplying those essential goods that have been allowed on the High Street Saturday market during lockdown. The Simmons fruit and veg store moved to outside LLoyds bank during the lockdown and has remained there since the market re-opening presumably because of freer access to goods there, rather than the more usual confined space near Boots frontage.

Last Saturday ‘Covid Ambassadors ‘ wearing yellow jackets were in evidence on the High Street, the general public were asked to use the one way system going down from Northgate towards Listley Street and then using the opposite pavement towards Northgate. There was not much evidence of this and many locals were disturbed at the number of visitors to the market on Saturday .

The good news is that the BJ reported this week that there were no further Covid deaths across the county with the last Covid death recorded 30 days ago and the vaccination programme run by Bridgnorth Medical Practice continues to be a huge success . ( Note – lateral flow tests are now available from the library in Listley Street since tests are no longer available from the Community Centre in Low Town )

So it is very important that all of us continue to keep the recommended 2 metre distance (- or for us oldies 6.56 feet ) and wear a mask which is obligatory in shops but would be a good idea to wear them in a crowded High Street.
