Vaccine update (1)

A huge logistical nightmare!

So congratulations to Bridgnorth Medical Practice.  They were the original hub for the area that dealt with the Covid vaccine.  Nurses and doctors from other practices came to Bridgnorth and helped out in the well run vaccine clinics.   The clinics started out with the Pfizer vaccine and the over 80 year olds .   Patients were telephoned  and the lists started alphabetically.  Patients not contacted were tried again and again until  there was a response.   The programme started in December and some townspeople were able to get the two jabs before guidelines changed

Then came the government directive at the beginning of January 2021 to give just one jab so that more of the population were given protection   Gradually more practices started giving the vaccine to their patients and larger hubs were set up – such as at the Black Country Museum – Telford – (a complete list can be found on the NHS website )

This  last week ending January 31st  BMP had full day vaccination clinics on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

You will be contacted by telephone or letter   Making on line appointments at some of the hubs I’m told requires a modicum of patience.  So persevere .  Don’t phone the surgery with queries about covid vacs if you can help it as BMP are running normal surgeries as well.

A big thank you to doctors and staff of our Bridgnorth Medical Practice who are working over and above normal hours so keep us safe .

(Note: H James sent Bridgnorthtowncrier a message……..

I am very impressed with all the organisation that has had to be done at Bridgnorth doctors surgery. When visiting there last Friday I was greeted with a cheery and friendly atmosphere which should put everyone at ease, a big thankyou to all the nursing staff and helpers, I hope this will get all the ditherers off their backsides. As Cliff Richard says MOVE IT.)

Thank you H James

we totally agree with you   A magnificent effort by BMP

UPDATE.  As from yesterday   7.2.21. It was announced that over 12 million jabs had been administered.    A magnificent effort by our NHS and local practices
