Hello to all gardeners. Spring’s on its way so get digging. Turn over the soil to get a good tilth for later sowing — in March.
Prune your fruit trees, then feed them with a general fertiliser. Add some extra potash.
Have a bonfire if permitted. Ash is very good for the soil.
Put bonemeal fertiliser around the base of your shrubs. For rhododendrens, azaleas and other ‘ lime haters ‘ use iron sulphate fertiliser.
Plant calendula seeds, cornflower seeds, parsley, early cabbage and lettuce in pots. Leave all in a warm place to germinate, e.g. window sills or conservatory.
Plant tomatoes, basil, antirrhinum seeds in a propagator.
If the ground is dry enough to work then you can plant a row of broad beans.
