A well researched book by the author who specialises in Russian History of the twentieth century Its a series of chapters from the viewpoint of foreign nationals living in Petrograd ( now St Petersburg) in 1917. Journalists, diplomats, nurses, bankers and others who were aware of the chaos breaking around them but continued with their parties and high living while taking note of the freezing lines of bread queues and food shortages around them. They kept diaries – made notes- and then wrote home .
