Public Question time

Mr Marshall asked about recording the BTC meetings He wanted audio recording of all meetings of BTC and to broadcast these meetings He said that it would be better for the residents that all 16 Cllrs had requested and supported this Currently there was no info about debates – only a formal brief business report

Response – this has not been recently discussed and presently minutes are published in full compliance etc …. Costs of the Annual council meeting was £500 and was not viable to record every council meeting

Mr Marshall – dissatisfaction with this response . He noted that some topics were of great interest ( flooding and Local policing ) Minutes were of historical interest Cllrs should do something about it

( I’m with you Mr Marshall. It is difficult to follow when minutes are of the bare minimum -ED)

To continue – lots of stuff about the Mayors Diary …..then….

£20K had been allocated to BTC from the £288K from the European Regional Development Fund and BTC had been asked to identify how to spend the cash to improve the street scene . It was suggested that a shared document would help for possible suggestions Submission by August 13th

Some suggestions by the police team – visibility/responding/crime prevention/support to the vulnerable/partnerships

( Shouldn’t there be some kind of public discussion about this ???-ED)

Flooding – report by James Turner of the Environmental Agency.about recent flooding in Bridgnorth.

Not a lot to report. It seems that it’s on a cost/benefit analysis Either a Do Nothing or Do Minimum – that is a patch or repair on existing defences . With a possible setting up of a local flood action group

( this is all very well but setting up a group when water is lapping the front steps of a house isn’t much use. What is needed is further action by the EA . Experts advice is needed on what to do. Not another committee meeting -Ed)

To continue – £55K approved for payment

Then” members noted the receipts of cash books 1 2 &3 “. ( so what are they ?) and ‘members noted the budget summary report ( More detail please )

Balance sheet General Fund £751K Earmarked reserves £168K Useable Capital receipts

£25.5K approved for payment Cllrs Buffey ad Rochelle to sign the cheques

Quarterly Budget Monitoring – future reports to include income sources .

The report for utility charges for public toilets were resolved with various D/D for water and gas .
